Why globe valves

Built for control, not only for isolation

A globe valve moves its disc straight onto and away from the seat, so the opening changes in proportion to stem travel. That is what makes it the valve of choice wherever a line has to be throttled, regulated or opened and closed many times a day – steam headers, boiler feed, fuel oil, cooling water bypasses and chemical dosing lines.

Controtek Global designs and builds globe valves at its works in Kathwada, Ahmedabad. The range covers cast globe valves to BS 1873 / DIN 2401 from 50NB to 400NB in Class 150 to 1500, and compact forged steel globe valves to API 602 for small-bore, high-pressure lines. Each valve is pressure tested to API 598 or BS 6755 and shipped with an EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 test certificate.

What goes into a Controtek globe valve

• Suitable for frequent operation and flow regulation
• Parabolic disc option for fine, repeatable throttling
• Lapped backseat allows gland repacking with the valve under pressure
• Seat and packing selected for superheated steam and hot oils
• Smooth flow passage designed to keep pressure drop low
• Anti-friction ball bearings on larger sizes and classes to cut torque
• Compact, maintenance-friendly construction with long service life

Disc options include on-off discs for isolation duty, parabolic discs for smoother flow characteristics, and control-type discs for regulating service. Seat rings are either seal welded or threaded in, depending on pressure class and service. On request, valves are supplied with a parabolic or control-type disc and an electric actuator, as in the 6" Class 900 control valve built by Controtek.
